Swing for Kids provides a 10-week in-school Swing Dance program for 5th Graders that promotes Social & Emotional skills, Cultural Competency, Health & Wellness. The curriculum was designed by experienced educators and dancers as a developmentally appropriate supplement to music or gym class.
The program is offered for 45-minutes, once a week, during the regular school hours so that every student can participate and benefit. The program culminates with the Swing for Kids Jazz Ball, a special event in which students dress up, teach parents and guests basic dance steps, and perform to a local live Jazz band. Local Swing Dancers are also invited to perform to inspire students to set ambitious goals, believe in their full potential, and explore new ways to contribute to a vibrant, culturally aware community.
